Back In Texas

I made it. Thanks to John and Christin saving me and my broken down car in Tucson, I made it to Fort Worth. Work has been terribly slow, and I am not sure what I am going to do about it, but I am happy to be back in Texas. The first job I went to was hard, I did a lot of crawling around in a very hot attic, but the lady gave me and the other tech each three bottles of water and a piece of lemon pound cake in a Ziploc bag. The next day she gave us each two more when we came back. Then she spent five minutes on the phone with the company telling them how great we were. It didn’t take long to remember why I like this place.

Play Ball!!

This is my final project for my photography class.

Adrian, I did it!!

Maybe I didn't win the World Heavyweight Title recently, but I did finish all my hours of working out Friday. I'm pretty stoked about the whole thing.

Sesame Street and my sister

Christin is biased.
She hates Walmart. You would simply be amazed at the grief I get for bringing home a Walmart bag. It doesn't matter what is in it. I don't actually know if she would use a toothbrush if I bought one for her from Walmart. Who knows what would happen if I ever let her know that I buy our toilet paper there!!!

One thing in particular that she hates is Tyson chicken, chicken that is bought at Walmart. It is a little bigger than most chicken breasts you would usually buy. Now we shop at Fresh and Easy, and Christin thinks that it is the greatest store in the world (they do have very delicious blueberry jelly actually). I bought some chicken there the other day and tonight I took it out of the packages to freeze them in freezer bags. Holy smokes. They might have been the biggest breasts I have ever seen ( . . . ha ha). But in all seriousness, I am slightly suspicious that those clever Europeans conned Sesame Street into breeding Big Bird. In a four and a half pound package, there are only four chicken breasts!! A pound a piece!!! I mean, I'm thinking about writing Dean Cain and getting Ripley's out there. Maybe there's some crazy ET stuff going on. Maybe it's not really chicken, they're actually just goats and they package it in chicken broth. Or even worse . . . Fresh and Easy buys their chicken feed from Walmart!!!

Deep In the Heart of Texas

Good news. Even though my trip to Nashville didn't culminate with me finding the bride of my dreams, there still might be hope for a future cowgirl in my life. I might be temporarily moving back to the Lone Star State. Now this is not a sure thing. I still haven't actually spoken with anyone about this. But I am no longer needed in Alabama which was were I thought I was going to go, and I know that there is the need for technicians tin Dallas, and really just thinking about it makes me feel a little better about the whole summer. Even if I don't find a wife there : )

Somewhere Other Than the Night

So that title to a Garth Brooks song really doesn't have anything to do with what I'm about to write except that it is about night. That's just what I wanted to call it.

I am sitting here thinking about how much I don't want to finish this Power Point for my class in the morning. Mind you, it will probably only take about fifteen minutes of real work to finish it, but instead I am thinking about everything else that I could be doing. It is fascinating to me sometimes how in the evenings my body gets this rush of something and the last thing it wants to do is go to bed. I know that part of it is knowing that if I go to bed that I am going to have to wake up, which is a terrible experience for me almost every time it happens. But sometimes I just like to be up. I like to sit around with nothing to do at one in the morning. I really enjoy watching the Craig Ferguson show (if you'd like to, you can see it here). He's Scottish, not English, despite what he says (and Wikipedia says he plays the harp even though he swears that he doesn't). I kinda like to hang out on Facebook late at night and check on people's profiles and wonder why people are still awake and what they do at two in the morning. I like to cook late dinners of pork chops and mashed potatoes or have early breakfasts of omelets and bacon at times. Occasionally I even make desserts of hazelnut macaroons or brandied crepes. I love to read. I would even buy night lights when I was younger so I could have a little light to read by without turning on the main one in the room so that my parents wouldn't catch me. Sometimes I'll write in my journal and sometimes I'll blog (though not that much). As Candice once said in her blog, back when she was a night owl, night is a great time for doing laundry. It is a good time for cleaning, hot tubbing, ... alright, I'm out of stuff to list. But I'm glad that I am a night person. And I'm glad that school will be over for me in four more days and then every night can be a late night again.

A Late Valentine's Day Post

Valentine's Day is a day generally for a lot of whining. There are a lot of single people that tag it "Single's Awareness Day" and dread its coming all year. They are upset and bitter that no one will be getting them flowers or chocolates or whatever. There are those males that hate that they are actually expected to do something for their significant other, or get them something. They are mad that they have to put the effort into it. There are Josh Olsons who despise the day and refuse to acknowledge it because it completely overshadows their February 13th birthdays. Then there's people like me.

Not that I love Valentine's, but I like it quite a bit. I do love that it is a day of sweet activities like this though:

"Phoenix – February 11, 2009 – Arizona Big Smooch on Saturday, February 14th from 10am-2pm. Its Valentine’s Day so there will be lots of kissing… why not set a record? We’ll be attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the most kisses received in one minute. Everybody that participates will be registered to win a romantic getaway to the Wynn Las Vegas. We’ll also attempt to set the Arizona record for the most people kissing simultaneously. It all happens on Valentine’s Day at Tempe Marketplace. The Guinness World Record attempt will be at 1:30p and the “Big Smooch” is set for 2pm."

I didn't go. But what a great idea.

I love that it is a day that people show each other how much they care. I love the thought of the dinners and dates that are enjoyed. I love that there are so many kisses given and the millions of babies conceived (like Adam and Levi and Tyler). I love the gifts that are given. I love the pictures that are taken. And I love that it is a day that people try to show each other how much they love them. There should probably be more days like that on the calendar.
